What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collection Management Intern position at Peabody Essex Museum?
At the Peabody Essex Museum, the Collection Management Division handles all aspects of collection care. This internship affords the applicant the unique opportunity to gain experience in many back of house disciplines. Working with the Collection Managers you will learn about the logistics and preparation required to facilitate exhibition and educational programming and collection research projects at a large and diverse museum. You will also be given an introduction to the care and planning needed in handling museum objects.
Internship Qualifications: Students working toward Museum Studies, Library Science, Art, History, or other related degrees are encouraged to apply. Applicants must possess excellent attention to detail and a measured approach, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Successful candidates must be adept at Microsoft Office and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Acrobat). Additional experience with, or knowledge of, relational databases and Adobe Lightroom is a plus. Please note that this position is in Rowley, Massachusetts and will need to be onsite for a minimum of 15 hours each week. Upon successful completion of the internship program, you will be provided with a $1,5000 stipend.
