Join a high-impact initiative to modernize a major public health website and ensure ADA compliance across more than 1,500 pages. This project directly supports accessibility and language equity for all New Mexicans, including individuals with disabilities and those facing language barriers. Your work will help eliminate digital obstacles and make critical health content available to everyone.

• You’ll be part of a mission-driven public agency focused on delivering reliable, inclusive health information. The team has already made significant progress on website modernization. Now they’re seeking your accessibility expertise to complete this transformation. This is a chance to step into a lead role and champion accessibility from strategy to implementation in a supportive and collaborative environment.
  
  

Major Duties

• Conduct an ADA accessibility audit of a large, public-facing website using tools such as WAVE, Axe, or Lighthouse.
• Identify, prioritize, and support resolution of accessibility issues (including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript updates).
• Create clear, reusable documentation (SOPs) to support long-term accessibility maintenance.
• Provide strategic input on language access features, including multilingual content and plug-in implementation.
• Work closely with communications and IT teams to ensure successful implementation in a secure and restricted environment.
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and ADA web accessibility standards.
• Hands-on experience using and interpreting accessibility testing tools.
• Technical proficiency in HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript.
• Experience with multilingual websites or translation plug-ins (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and create well-documented processes.
  
  

Exciting Opportunity Details

• Rate: $60.00/hour.
• Contract Length: 6 months.
• Worksite Location: Remote.
• To be Eligible for Consideration: Eligible candidates must reside in the state of New Mexico.
• Other Key Details: No certifications required. Selection will be based on experience and practical skills. Project scope may evolve depending on funding and agency priorities.
