What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Mechanical Engineer position at Phoenix LiDAR Systems?
We are currently
looking for a Jr Mechanical Engineer with experience in product design using
SolidWorks. This role is responsible for preparing detailed component drawings,
detailed assembly and fabrication drawings and instructions, installation
instructions and engineering change documentation.
Responsibilities
- Identifying deficiencies in mechanical
processes and developing improvements
- Designing and developing prototypes
- Analyzing and testing prototypes and each
revision of a device
- Collaborating with Project Managers for proper
allocation and tracking of resources assessing project requirements
- Supervising the development of computer-aided
design (CAD) project drawings from junior team members (SolidWorks
preferred)
- Developing, initiating, and managing all
phases of projects Lead the testing and product quality assurance system
by designing procedures to ensure all problems are noted and addressed
- Preparing documentation of critical analysis
and providing suggestions for correcting errors
- Maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure
that it is safe, reliable and efficient using computer-aided
design/modelling software
- Work with company leaders in order to develop
new ways of increasing profit and reducing waste within the organization.
- Work closely with the supply chain team to
identify cost reduction opportunities as well as solve manufacturing
issues
- Presenting designs to managers and clients
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
from an accredited college or university.
- At least 5 years of engineering experience
(required) including design experience with mechanical components
(preferred).
- Strong and effective problem solving and
analytical skills
- Exceptional mechanical design aptitude
(electronics packaging, vibration isolation, EMI and thermal dynamics
- Expertise in CAD design tools, (3 years
SolidWorks PDM preferred)
- General knowledge of fabrication and
manufacturing techniques and design-for-manufacturing (machining, welding,
Sheetmetal, 3D printing, injection molding, cable harnesses, etc.…)
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a
team
- Ability and willingness to share knowledge and
communicate in a transparent and clear way and to accept constructive
criticism pertaining to designs
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning
and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to cope with time-pressure and high
workload while being able to adapt easily to strategic changes in direction
