Client:
Our client is a S.E.C. registered venture capital Fund of Funds manager. They manage global venture capital and China only venture funds as well as a dedicated crypto fund of funds. They are currently seeking candidates for a two-year Associate position, with the potential to stay on for a third year.
Opportunity:
The Associate will be a part of a lean and dynamic investment team and work closely with the Founding Managing Partner on analysis (on global funds, underlying portfolio companies and global markets), the crypto ecosystem, research projects, and investment monitoring. This role offers the opportunity to dive deeply into early and growth stage investing, while being mentored directly by a Managing Partner. This is a “work from home/remote” role with periodic live meetings with the Managing Partner and some of the top venture funds in the U.S. This role has been successfully executed since 2017, and references with prior personnel will be made available to a finalist.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on existing venture managers
- Research key trends in global private alternative investing – especially artificial intelligence, sector verticals (e.g. healthcare and climate and deep tech) and targeted geographies (e.g. China, Europe, Israel and India)
- Track and monitor existing fund investments and co-investments
- Manipulate external databases (e.g. Burgiss and Pitchbook) and update internal databases
- Prepare external materials for marketing and investor updates
- Make select presentations to clients
- Track venture industry trends from numerous public sources around the world
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Two to three years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or manager selection
- Top undergraduate degree with a strong GPA
- Ability to enjoy working with a tight-knit team, thinking independently and exercising judgment in effectively carrying out their duties
- Intellectual curiosity and passion for all things venture
- Aptitude and interest in the crypto ecosystem
- Excellent skills in Excel and PowerPoint, with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to master firm’s portfolio database systems
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
- A well-rounded background, global mindset and clear communication style
- Strong work ethic and high self-motivation
