Director of Finance – Confidential School
Salary: $100,000–$125,000/year (based on experience)

A leading K-12 school seeks a Director of Finance to join its leadership team. This key role will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to oversee the school’s financial operations, guide strategy, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and educational regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting background, team leadership experience, and a passion for mission-driven work in a school setting. This is a confidential search due to an internal transition. The school is known for its supportive culture, collaborative leadership, and commitment to academic excellence.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Supervise payroll and purchasing functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and regulations
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable and manage cash flow, vendor relationships, and grant reporting
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and financial policies required by federal, state, and local agencies
- Manage financial aspects of bonds, including journal entries, audits, DAC reporting, and rating reviews
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team while contributing to overall operational excellence
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred)
- 8 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, GASB, payroll, grants management, and compliance
- Experience with bond management, asset tracking, and nonprofit or public sector accounting
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems (Abila MIP Fund Accounting and Paylocity experience is a plus)
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
