Located in the Virginia Beach area, this full-time opportunity supports elementary students in grades K-5 as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). The position focuses on a small caseload of 8 students, all served within the district center. The assignment is a contract role, running from ASAP through June 16, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) appropriate for each students communication and learning needs.
- Coordinate closely with related service providers, families, and school staff to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation aligned with district and state requirements.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment tailored to students unique challenges.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience teaching K-5 students in a DHH setting, preferably with caseload management.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in Deaf education and related assistive technologies.
- Specialization in classroom and communication strategies that support auditory and visual learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Position Details:
- Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours weekly.
- Location: District center serving students within the Virginia Beach area.
- Contract Duration: Assigned for the current school year with a contract through June 16, 2026.
- Caseload: 8 students, kindergarten through 5th grade.
Candidates must be available for pre-screening interviews between 9-11 a.m. or 2-3 p.m. EST, with some schedule flexibility.
