BENEFIT SERVICES CONSULTANT

We help our clients provide and administer healthcare and voluntary benefits to 47,000 WSE annually, ensuring they stay compliant with state and federal laws and answering employee questions along the way.
The role of the Benefit Services Consultant entails serving as the primary liaison between our clients, employees, and our range of healthcare offerings. This position involves offering specialized direction and assistance in the realm of employee benefits, aiming to guarantee contentment among clients and adherence to pertinent legal standards. Through close collaboration with clients, the Benefit Services Consultant gains insight into their specific requirements, crafting tailored benefit strategies that harmonize with their objectives and financial considerations. The position demands adept analytical capabilities, proficiency in benefits administration, and exceptional aptitude for delivering top-tier customer service.
- Consultative Service Delivery: Provide consistent, high-quality guidance to client partners on health care plan offerings, payroll deductions, coverage options, and employee-related queries. Offer consultative support to address inquiries and concerns while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Onboarding and Training: Assist Senior Consultants in onboarding new hires within the Benefits team through training facilitation. Conduct training sessions on systems, plans, and processes, ensuring understanding among new team members. Provide continuous support throughout the onboarding journey.
- Annual Open Enrollment Consulting and Support: Collaborate with assigned account managers to assess existing benefit plans for top-tier clients during renewal. Make recommendations for enhancement, considering cost-effectiveness, compliance, and employee satisfaction. Offer strategic consultations to clients on upcoming plan year offerings to achieve cost containment and attract/retain employees. Play a pivotal role in the annual open enrollment process, including data and collateral audits, processing, and addressing inquiries.
- Client Relationship Management: Establish and nurture strong relationships as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. Deliver outstanding customer service by understanding client needs and preferences. Utilize insights into clients' employee demographics and preferences to craft customized benefit plans. Conduct meetings and presentations to educate clients about benefit options, changes, and best practices.
- Industry Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging benefit offerings, and legal requirements through ongoing training. Ensure clients' benefit plans adhere to federal, state, and local laws, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Employee Education and Communication: Develop and deliver educational materials, presentations, and workshops to empower employees in making informed benefit decisions. Respond to employee inquiries promptly, offering accurate information regarding benefit plans, claims, and eligibility.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and insights to clients to evaluate the effectiveness of their benefit programs. Identify data-driven solutions to address benefit-related challenges and optimize outcomes.
- Health Care Benefits Processing Back up by supporting the benefit eligibility team. Process health care benefits accurately and promptly within diverse payroll systems. Perform benefit eligibility assessments, plan transactions (enrollments, terminations, life event changes) in HRIS and carrier platforms, COBRA administration, and client reporting. Work with internal teams and external vendors to administer benefits, resolve issues, and maintain accurate records.
The base compensation for this position is $24.00 to $29.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
What We'd Like For You To Have
- 3 years of experience in benefits administration, consulting, or a related customer service focused field. PEO experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in client relationship management, with a track record of delivering exceptional customer service
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws related to benefits, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA, preferred
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate clients, employees, and team members.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure compliance and accurate processing.
