QPS, LLC has an opening for an Associate Scientist I in our Biotransformation group. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in QPS’ continued expansion of our capabilities to support metabolite profiling for small molecule drug development.
The Biotransformation group’s expertise lies in the identification of the components (i.e. metabolites) that are formed during the metabolism of drugs. To do this we use mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS, LC‑HRMS) techniques. We also use radioactivity detectors for drugs that have been radiolabeled.
As an Associate Scientist I in our Biotransformation department, you will be a fully-supervised trainee, responsible for sample preparation by various extraction methods; radioactivity recovery assays, analysis of drug and metabolites in biological samples to support preclinical and clinical drug development programs; and recording study results and observations.

The Job
- Perform routine lab operations, such as sample extraction, preparing reagents, operating automatic liquid handling equipment, pipetting, weighing, monitoring, and recording, in a neat/clean manner
- Assist Principal Investigator in performing analysis of drug and metabolites in biological samples utilizing liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS/MS) methods
- Document experiment details, calculations, results and observations in accordance with SOPs
Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related scientific discipline as follows:
