What are the responsibilities and job description for the File Clerk position at Radiology Associates of Tallahassee?
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Performs a variety of clerical and filing duties at a level not requiring constant supervision of detail. This position will at times be called upon to work as an alternator loader for outside facilities.
SUPERVISED BY: Diagnostics Supervisor
SUPERVISES: Not applicable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scanning patient visit documentation into Radiology Information system.
Burning compact discs of patient exam results and reports.
Performs film check-in and check-out with both patients and couriers.
Prepare x-ray and ultrasound films for reading.
Answering phone calls and sending faxes relative to patient films and reports.
Purging records and rotating film jackets on shelves, including shredding of paperwork from purged jackets.
Hanging films for radiologists to read on alternators.
Preparation and mailing of out-of-town films back to their locations.
Receive and make calls relative to wet readings and dictated outside/inside film readings.
Performs other tasks requested by the supervisor.
EDUCATION:
High school degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Formal training and/or on-the-job training as a clerical or filing clerk.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of basic clerical skills, filing procedures, and computer skills.
2. Knowledge of methods and procedures of retention and storage of patient film files.
3. Knowledge of correct method of hanging films on alternator for radiologists.
SKILLS:
1. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric sequence.
2. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Requires intermittent lifting of films up to 25 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently Frequent bending, twisting, and stooping. Occasional stress related to workload. Requires use of office equipment. Normal vision needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office setting, well-lighted and ventilated.
EXPOSURE DETERMINATION TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS:
Category III: Classification in which employee has no occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
