What are the responsibilities and job description for the Disability Rights Advocate position at RCIL?
Starting Pay Rate: $17.95 per hour

Job Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Remain informed of disability regulations, policies, and community resources to provide information, referrals, and educational services.
- Assist people with disabilities develop independent living goals/skills and encourage self-advocacy skills; Facilitate group activities.
- Engage in outreach, presentations, and activities promoting disability rights and services on the local, state, and federal level.
Education:
- A College Degree is preferred; a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Two years of experience working with people with disabilities.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility improvement, the Independent Living Movement, Social Security Administration, Department of Social Servies, disability rights legislation, educational advocacy including: IDEA/504 Plan / IEP process, and benefit programs: such as Medicaid, SNAP, HEAP.
- Experience working with either aging populations/senior services, or youth services/educational advocacy.
- Computer skills, including outlook and Microsoft programs.
- Excellent customer service skills.
