ReDiscover is seeking a Certified Youth Peer Specialist to add to our Children Community Services Program!

We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as a Peer Support Specialist. However, here are some things that you will need prior to starting with ReDiscover:
- The schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work.
- Must have life experiences with mental illness/substance use disorders and have received services.
- Must hold a Certified Youth Peer Certification through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB).
- Must also satisfy requirements for external community partners.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as GSuite.
- Be willing to get a Missouri Class E Drivers License in the future.
WHAT WE DO
Our Children's Services program offers mental health and/or substance use disorders services to school aged youth at home, school, or in their community. Our staff have smaller caseloads, are able to see clients one or more times a week, and have flexible schedules. This helps to ensure that a child's services are not disrupted due to transportation or family scheduling concerns.
At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:
- Supports ReDiscover's Substance Use Disorder programs and will work with clients who have a substance use disorder.
- Shares lived experience of resilience and recovery and models successful recovery behaviors for individuals with a mental health diagnoses and/or a substance use disorder.
- Links clients with support groups and other community resources, which may include connecting with health & wellness activities, finding and maintaining employment, or other activities that would support clients’ recovery goals.
- Works within an interdisciplinary team to develop and modify individual client treatment plans.
- May participate and/or facilitate mutual support and education groups within specific ReDiscover programs.
- May assist with client transportation, which could include transporting individuals in personal vehicle.
- Utilizes non-traditional means to connect with clients, which may include street outreach.
- Safeguards Protected Health Information (written and electronically) and maintains confidentiality. This may include providing written documentation.
