General Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Maintenance Mechanic position is to perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on production machines and equipment. They will assist other skilled maintenance employees on general installation, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment.
Essential Functions
- Must have a good mechanical background and aptitude as will be required to analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment.
- Must be able to demonstrate a general knowledge and understanding of the trade skills, i.e. electricity, electronics, welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools correctly.
- Must be able to run a forklift, boom lift and scissor lift and secure licenses if required.
- Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company.
- Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics; technical and service bulletins; product specifications; and other standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to use and understand various specialized measuring tools and equipment unique to the job, i.e. laser level, micrometers, calipers, voltmeters, etc.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with other departments, professional staff and management of the company.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, analytical effort, tact, good judgement and sound reasoning.
- Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position.
- Must have neat and legible handwriting.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Will perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
Describe Critical Skills, Experience, Training, Education, or Licenses Required
Requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a general knowledge of the skilled trades. An associate’s degree in mechanics, electrical, or electromechanical studies or the equivalent work experience/training is preferred but not required.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment Used
Requires use of all ordinary hand tools and power tools/equipment. Will require the use of other measuring tools, i.e. micrometer, calipers, and laser level. Requires the use of safety eyewear with side shields, face shield on occasion, safety footwear, fall protection, hearing protection and other safety gear as required.
Describe Any Unusual Physical Requirements or Skills Required
Must be able to distinguish all colors correctly for electrical work.
