Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Hire-Ability Vocational Services, the Vocational Coordinator supervises our workshop and related businesses for clients with mental health disabilities. The goal of the program is to provide job readiness skills training and vocational assessment activities in preparation for employment.

Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the complete day to day operations of the workshop activities, including supervision of staff and clients that are enrolled in the Employee Development. 
  • Provides training to staff and oversees the staff management of client charts, vocational assessments and documentation related to client activities.
  • Provides regular supervision to Program Assistant and Peer Intern and assists staff with challenging client cases, requiring supervisory input.
  • Conducts workshops on job readiness skills with participants.
  • Works in coordination with other departments at Hire-Ability to coordinate the referral and exit of participants from the Employee Development Program.
  • Responsible in meeting contract objectives and working in partnership with the Associate Director of Vocational Services in program development activities.
  • Works collaboratively with production vendors to ensure steady amount of work flow for the workshop. Works in conjunction with the Associate Director of Vocational Services to increase business revenue.
  • Conducts all time-studies to comply with Department of Labor standards.
  • Sets prices for all business activities based on a formula that includes client wages, overhead, administration and profit margin.
  • Markets, manages, provides follow-up to all business customer contacts.
  • Provides training to staff team leaders in proper assembly and quality control of all subcontract work.
  • Presents and promotes business services to the community.
  • Develops marketing plan for all business services.
  • Prepares quotes and estimates for all sub-contract work.
  • Monitor and facilitate Health and Safety activities at Hire-Ability in compliance with City and County ordinances and CARF standards.
  • Attends all staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Educational level & Experience: 

  • A BA degree in a social work, vocational, or business related field with at least two years of experience in social work, vocational rehabilitation or business; Applicants with at least one year of supervisory experience, highly preferred (will be prioritized).
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including with clients who have behavioral health barriers.

Other Requirements:  

  • Familiarity with community behavioral health systems of care in San Francisco, including the philosophy of care, levels of care for clinical services, and the delivery of such services, highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco community resources/services (may include health, mental health, substance abuse, vocational, housing, etc.), highly preferred.
  • Strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, & mission of RAMS in providing community-based, culturally competent, and consumer-guided mental health services to the community.
  • Commitment to engaging in professional development activities such as trainings, continuing education seminars, case conferences, and reviewing up-to-date material, etc., as related to treatment strategies for the population of Hire-Ability Vocational Services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively, function independently, and interact professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff of all levels.

Salary : $33 - $39
