Primary Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and process requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, legal representatives, and other authorized individuals or organizations.
- Verify the identity and authorization of requestors following HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws.
- Retrieve, assemble, and organize medical records and other relevant documents for release, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Utilize electronic health record systems and other technology platforms to manage and track requests, maintain documentation, and generate reports as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the release of medical information, including maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to release of information policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to address inquiries, resolve issues, and facilitate the timely and accurate release of information.
- Maintain proficiency in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to health information management and privacy.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, document management software, and other technology tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive medical information
