Systems Engineer

Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Server Engineer to join our team in the Appleton/Oshkosh, WI area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our server environment, ensuring seamless operation of our infrastructure, and supporting long-term cloud migration goals. You'll work closely with a talented team in a dynamic, enterprise-scale environment, supporting 5,000 end users and a technical ecosystem spread across two data centers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Firewall Administration: Manage updates, troubleshoot issues, handle escalations, and support special requests such as web services and remote security platforms.
• Server Maintenance: Provide administration and support for a hybrid environment, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
• Ticketing Systems: Address escalations, track and resolve tickets, and contribute to detailed documentation of tickets and processes.
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, updates, and procedures.
• Cloud Migration: Collaborate with the team to work towards the long-term goal of cloud integration.

• VMware, Oracle, SQL Server
• Linux and Oracle Linux
• Windows, SharePoint, M365

Environment Size:

• 5,000 end users
• 500-600 servers (majority on-prem)
• Hybrid environment with two data centers and a developing cloud strategy

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of Server Engineering experience in a mid-to-large organizational environment.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Servers and Active Directory (please share details about the size of the environment you've supported).
• Proficiency in firewall troubleshooting, administration, and configuration.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation practices.
• Knowledge of virtualization tools such as VMware.
• Exposure to cloud environments is a plus, with openness to learning.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Systems Engineer role or similar position
Proficient in Active Directory, AWS Technologies, and Server Technologies
Demonstrated ability to use Office 365 and Enterprise 365
Familiarity with SCCM, Azure AD Connect, and Azure Active Directory
Experience with Linux and other open-source platforms
Proven track record in Server Administration
Knowledge of the plastics manufacturing industry is advantageous
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
