Your Role With Us:
Charge Capture Specialist- Revenue Integrity
Summary:
Utilizing your advanced knowledge of billing and charge capture, you will support our vision of being a top-performing leader by ensuring charges are compliant, fiscally sound and focused on the patient. This will be accomplished by accurate charge capture, assisting in the maintenance of a compliant ChargeMaster, auditing records, and providing education relating to charge capture processes.
Primary Functions:
1. Process Epic work queues and enter charges for RIT Charge Capture supported area/department using applicable documentation, follows up on all incomplete and inaccurate charges and makes prompt corrections utilizing coding expertise of CPT, HCPC, and APC Codes.
2. Utilizes reconciliation processes to ensure entered charges match documentation in medical record and assigns coding to entered charges utilizing coding expertise.
3. Collaborates with and serves as an expert resource for Department Managers, HIM, Corporate Integrity, Patient Financial Services and end users to identify and resolve coding issues to reduce denials.
4. Researches all current and future complex Medicare requirements for reimbursement and billing compliance guidelines through use of resources such as VitalWare, CMS, etc. Collaborates with ChargeMaster team and department managers to ensure ChargeMaster is maintained/updated and changes are made in accordance with Medicare guidelines.
5. Engages in individual continual education and cross-training in all departments supported by the RIT Charge Capture Team.
6. Provides accurate Estimates to patients via the Estimate phone line, email or MyChart.

Background/Expertise:
- Associates degree OR minimum of five (5) years experience working with medical coding, patient charging, or financial reports.
- Certified Coder (RCCB, AAPC, OR AHIMA) preferred.
- Working knowledge of Coding Rules and Regulations required (i.e. CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, APC, and DRG) following coding/charging guidelines and policies.
- ChargeMaster experience preferred.
