Nature & Purpose of Position
Coordinates the University-wide Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability Reporting, and College Of Education (COE) Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) reporting efforts, reviewing and revising as needed to meet current assessment needs of the Educator Preparation Program (EPP); prepares data and reports to meet federal and national accreditation needs for annual and periodic data reviews; assists with university-wide program review for teacher education programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Completes recurring annual and non-recurring reports for Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Texas Education Agency (TEA), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and other agencies with faculty and staff input and guidance. Directs assessment activities to support faculty in program improvement and curriculum development efforts. Collaborates with faculty and administrators to develop and implement and evaluate accreditation plans for educator preparation programs. Works with College faculty, staff, and Assessment Committee to advance accreditation activities and reports. Designs and directs performance reporting for various constituent groups, including college and program advisory councils, public-school partners, and general public via the accreditation website, scholarly publications and other media. Supports the College’s Annual Report effort. Develops processes for ongoing data collection and analysis, and management of data-informed program changes to maintain accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation and approximately twenty specialty program associations related to the preparation of educators, i.e., the National Council for Teachers of English, the National Council for Teaching of Mathematics, Accreditation Council for Teaching of Foreign Language, etc. Submits annual reports and institutional reports for continuing accreditation, and manages the logistics for CAEP accreditation visits. Supports faculty and program coordinators’ involvement in preparing accreditation reports and ongoing compliance with the standards of the Texas Education Agency and the State Board for Educator Certification; provides information and guidance for the college’s participation in Southern Association accreditation activities. Establishes timelines and practices for the college to prepare for site visits and submission of accreditation reports; interacts with various constituents to interpret data and evidence collected. Monitors national and state accreditation information and related research and provides timely updates to faculty and administration. The Director also provides guidance and collaborates with the Director of Educator Preparation Services and field-based coordinators within the public schools, to assure that standards related to field experiences and mentoring are met on public school campuses. Performs other related duties as assigned.
