Senior Tax Accountant

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Tax Accountant on behalf of a respected, technology-forward professional services and consulting organization based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This is an exceptional direct-hire opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant who enjoys hands-on tax preparation while also working across advisory, accounting, and client-facing initiatives.

This organization is growing its team and is looking for someone who brings both tax preparation expertise and strong general accounting capabilities. This role blends compliance, advisory, and systems-focused work, offering exposure to a wide range of client environments and complex accounting scenarios.

You’ll collaborate closely with a team of experienced, credentialed accounting professionals while helping clients strengthen tax compliance, accounting processes, and financial operations. This position is hybrid, requiring two onsite days per week in Allentown, with flexibility for the remainder of the week.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales and use tax filings
• Provide tax advisory support and ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
• Review and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and tax documentation
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysis for client engagements
• Perform general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and bookkeeping oversight
• Partner with clients to improve accounting workflows, controls, and reporting accuracy
• Lead client projects from planning through completion with clear, proactive communication
• Utilize modern accounting platforms and technology to support client deliverables

What You Bring

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on tax preparation
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
• Experience with Zoho Books and/or Sage is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization abilities
• Client-facing mindset with excellent communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously
