The engineering technician position is in support of the manufacture and process development within the Aerospace & Defense Business, as well as other related industries at the Attleboro, MA facility.
Responsibilities:
- Primary function is to support all aspects of the manufacturing process with focus on production support for YAG laser welding operations.
- Work with Manufacturing Supervisors & Engineers to set up manufacturing equipment, make minor repairs to equipment and fixturing, and perform Preventive Maintenance as required.
- Must be able to work with the entire Manufacturing Team, which includes production operators, supervisors, engineering, as well as other technicians.
- Address continuous improvement activities to reduce material scrap and improve yields.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. in material or chemical containers.
- Weekend overtime may be required at times to meet customer on time deliveries.
Job Requirements:
ASME or equivalent 2-yr Associate’s degree required. The job will require technical learning ability and strong mechanical build and testing talents. The work requires the responsibility for complex electro-mechanical product lines with many product types. The job requires both individual and team interaction in meeting goals where interaction is primarily with other technicians, engineers, and production line personnel. Also, work with design engineers. Work environment is demanding and involves analytical thinking and design with hands on experimentation, testing, and process development. Other special skills include strong mechanical background (e.g. welding, pneumatics, machining) and familiarity with bimetal disc making, laser welding, resistance welding and clean room operations.
Additional skills:
- Laser, tig, and resistance welding experience vital
- Machining skills on a range of machine shop tools (drills, presses, lathes, etc.)
- Equipment set-up
- Computer skills (Excel, Word, SolidWorks etc.),
- Good written and verbal communications skills
Enhanced Qualifications:
End to end or full cycle process knowledge encompassing all aspect of operational build detail, including but not limited to; R & M (Repair and Maintenance) of product line mfg. equipment (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic), process setup (establish tooling requirements and operational parameters), pilot build (limited production lots to validate setup and facilitate operator hand-off) and final validation to operational Quality Requirements. Empowered as product line(s) cross-functional technical SME to provide a high-level of equipment, process, and product knowledge to support production fallout and yield improvement.
