What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Southern Minnesota Education Consortium?

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of educational and behavioral programs for children in a preschool or classroom setting
- Provide support to children with special needs, including those with autism or other developmental disabilities
- Collaborate with teachers and therapists to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support children in developing social skills and managing behavior through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques
- Assist with daily tasks such as feeding, toileting, and dressing
- Create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all children
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum activities

Experience:
- Previous experience working with school-aged children or in a daycare setting is preferred
- Experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies is beneficial
- Familiarity with curriculum development for children is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.54 - $21.57 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
