What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpentry and Building Trades Instructor position at Southwestern Community College?
Location: Red Oak, Iowa
Southwestern is seeking applications for a full-time or part-time carpentry and building trades instructor for the Red Oak career academy program. The successful individual will be responsible for the overall supervision of the carpentry and building trades career academy program, which includes teaching a variety of courses and supervising the construction of a residential home. The teaching assignment will involve training students through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstration, and lab experiences. The successful candidate will also possess strong organizational and leadership skills, demonstrate cooperative teamwork ability, and be attentive to detail.
Qualifications include a diploma or AAS degree in carpentry or a minimum of 6,000 hours of recent carpentry experience and relevant industry certification(s). Previous teaching experience desired. Designation as a full or part-time instructional contract is to be determined based on enrollment projections secured. The instructional contract will begin August 2024.
