What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Technology Specialist position at Southwestern Community College?
Statement of Primary Purpose
This position will coordinate internal and external groups using technology in the college's public facilities. It will also support and install instructional technology, incorporate technology use in the classroom environment, and implement new technologies in response to needs from instruction and learning. Additionally, the person holding this position will be responsible for keeping up with emerging technologies which could be used in the AV and instructional environment.
Classification
Technical Support, Full-time, non-exempt staff,
- Operate and maintain Myers Auditorium and Burrell Conference Center and all the equipment assigned to each and facilitate events to include setup of tables and chairs.
- Operate and maintain Slagle Board Room AV and all the equipment assigned
- Setup and coordinate all technology for college and special events.
- Video record and livestream key college events such as commencement, career workshops, orientation, lectures and student events and provide them for use in an appropriate format.
- A/V control systems maintenance and integration somewhere, specifically Crestron.
- Install and support Google Meet hardware
- Manage digital signage (RISE displays) where applicable
- Provide technical and administrative support as need for instructional technologies.
- Recommend, consult, and assist faculty and staff on the use of educational technologies.
- Provide technical support to end users of complex educational technology.
- Team member on standby for classroom, and conference room problems.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of instructional technologies.
- Help with other PC and printer support as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
A.A.S. degree in related field.
Working knowledge of:
- Sound and lighting systems
- Video production
- Digital video
- Video projectors
- Web Conferencing
- Lecture Capture
- Instructional Experience
- Google Workspace & Meet Hardware
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Licensing Requirement
Valid NC drivers' license
Working Conditions and Environment
Normal workday, usually 8am - 5pm, Monday through Thursday and 8am-12p on Friday. Some evenings/nights, Saturdays and Sundays as needed with coordination. Typical campus environment.

Sound and lighting equipment, digital video, and still cameras.
