Job Summary/ Scope
Performs light maintenance and care of mechanical and electrical systems, painting and refinishing and regular custodial and building cleaning duties. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PERFORMS custodial maintenance and cleaning activities in the upkeep of the Parking structures and facilities, including stairwells, storage areas and restrooms.
TROUBLESHOOTS, repairs, and replaces minor electrical fixtures and circuitry.
PERFORMS minor plumbing repairs.
PAINTS offices, related parking structures, curbs, pavement guide arrows and other parking-related pavement markings.
DRIVES 4-wheel drive pick-up truck and operates small pavement sweeper in multi-level garages and surface lots.
PERFORMS minor concrete repair and patching.
REMOVES snow and spreads ice remover on sidewalks in all parking garages and surface lots.
OPERATES snow removal equipment such as but not limited to four-wheel drive pick-up equipped with a snowplow and a material spreader.
CARES for plants in planters, sprays for weeds and prunes trees and shrubs.
OPERATES push mower and weed eater.
SECURITY of parking garages; regularly CLEAN urine and feces from garages.
ASSIST in booting vehicles.
CLEANING and GREASING ticket collection boxes.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
PERFORMS all other related duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
MUST have basic ability to work with hand tools and small electrical tools such as saws and drills.
GOOD public relations skills.
SOME knowledge and experience in general custodial work.
KNOWLEDGE of basic electrical circuitry and plumbing systems.
FAMILIARITY with equipment found in office environment and recreational areas.
MUST be able to use Volt/Ohm meter.
MUST have a valid operator’s license and be able to operate a small pavement sweeper in addition to light wheeled vehicles.
REQUIRED to be on-call and/or carry a pager and respond to emergencies as needed.

Materials and Equipment Directly Used
Regularly uses a variety of cleaning equipment such as buffing machines, carpet sweepers, mops and brooms. Frequently uses hand tools to repair a variety of equipment including plumbing, electrical outlets, and air conditioning filters. Operates pick-up truck, snowplow, material spreader and small pavement sweeper. Operates push mower and weed eater. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Most work performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Work involves frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing from 30 to as much as 75 pounds. Requires periods of standing, bending, pushing of objects and other physical activity. Occasional use of off-the-shelf weed control and plant-feeding chemicals. Requires hand dexterity to operate a variety of hand tools, including small electrical tools. Requires average vision and some hearing ability. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment. One to three years’ experience in a related field preferred.

Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
