AmeriCorps members are dedicated national service participants who commit their time and skills through defined terms of service to support communities and address critical local challenges.
The AmeriCorps member will serve within the Education department at the museum, supporting the Education Coordinator in enhancing visitor experience. A key focus of this role will be assisting with the coordination and delivery of educational programming for audiences of all ages, including leading field trips and interactive experiences for school groups. The member will also help create a welcoming environment for all visitors, and contribute to the development of inclusive, engaging programming that aligns with History Colorado’s mission.AmeriCorps Member Perks Include:

Description of Job
Terms of Service:
The Member will serve at the Center for Colorado Women’s History.
The AmeriCorps member will serve for an average of 20 hours per week during the service term, for a minimum of 900 hours over the course of their service term.
Flexible hours are required, including occasional evenings. Members may be expected to commit to weekend hours regularly.
The AmeriCorps member will be directly supervised by the Education Coordinator, with additional oversight and support provided by the Program Manager.
Service term begins September 08, 2025 and ends August 21, 2026.
Mandatory Orientation on September 8th and 9th, 2025
Major Responsibilities and Duties:Create a positive visitor experience engaging with visitors, facilitating hands-on activities, giving guided tours, working with vendors and community partners throughout each event. Must have availability on one weekend day each week and occasional evenings.
Support the museum's educational mission by assisting the public through front desk service, providing information and resources in the visitor center, and leading daily educational tours.
Collaborate with museum staff and community partners to enhance program reach and impact.
Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programming.
Support and facilitate other History Colorado community engagement and story initiatives projects as needed.

Facilitate field trips on select weekdays
Support Victorian Death Experiences (Thurs–Sat evenings throughout October, schedule TBD)
Night at the Museums: Nov 8, 2025 (5:00–10:00 p.m.)
Women’s History Symposium: Nov 15, 2025 (all-day event)
Winter (Dec–Feb):
Holiday Teas: Select Thursdays and Saturdays in December (10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)
Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day Teas: Select weekend days in Feb & March
Spring (Mar–Apr):
Facilitate field trips on select weekdays
Support Women’s History Month programming and exhibit prep (March)

Summer (June–Aug):

Training and Support Provided:
In-person orientation to History Colorado at the History Colorado Center.

Additional training and professional development opportunities offered throughout the service term.
AmeriCorps positions are service opportunities and not employment positions. Members will receive a living allowance, training, and support during their service term.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.
Experience in educational programming, museum education, or working with K-12 students preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident, due to AmeriCorps rules and regulations.
Ability to pass criminal history checks required.
Patience is required, as you will be in a position that largely serves children.
Background in history, education, cultural studies, or a related discipline preferred.
Familiarity with Colorado's diverse historical and cultural landscapes preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Flexibility to work weekends and special events as needed.
May require lifting heavy objects and working on ladders.
May require periodic travel by car, van, and truck to locations throughout the state, typically for periods of less than one week in duration.
