The AmeriCorps member will serve within the Education Department at the museum, under the guidance of the School Programs Manager and Coordinator, and Hands-On History Program Manager. Their primary focus will be to support and deliver impactful, culturally relevant educational programming to K-12th Grade students. The Member will play a key role in facilitating Hands-on History camp programs, field trips, and other student-focused educational experiences.

Terms of Service:
- The Member will serve at the History Colorado Center.
- The AmeriCorps Member will serve for an average of 10-15 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during school breaks. See Calendar section for details. The AmeriCorps Member will serve a minimum of 900 hours over the course of their service term.
- Flexible hours are required between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- The AmeriCorps Member will be directly supervised by the School Programs Manager and Coordinator, and Hands-On History Program Manager at the History Colorado Center, with additional oversight and support provided by the Program Manager.
- Service term begins S eptember 08, 2025 and ends August 21, 2026 .
- Mandatory Orientation on September 8th and 9th, 2025
- Facilitate Hands-On History out-of-school camp programming, school year field trips, and other educational activities, delivering culturally relevant content that is aligned to academic standards.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programming.
- Support curriculum development and manage educational resources to ensure the successful delivery of field trips and related programming.
- September 30th - Required attendance for School Programs Orientation
- September 30th - May 22nd, 2026 (10 - 15 hours per week)
- Availability required for Out of School Programming;
- December 29 - 31st, 2025 & January 2nd, 2026 (32 hours)
- March 23rd - 28th, 2026 (40 hours)
- Summer Camps, June - August 2026 (40 hours per week, 8 weeks of camp)
- In-person orientation to History Colorado at the History Colorado Center.
- Training provided by site supervisors for position responsibilities.
- Additional training and professional development opportunities offered throughout the service term.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights

- Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with Children ages 5-18
- 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident, due to AmeriCorps rules and regulations.
- Ability to pass criminal history checks required.
- Driver’s license preferred for Ute Indian Museum position.
- Experience in educational programming, museum education, or working with K-12 students preferred.
- Patience is required, as you will be in a position that largely serves children.
- Background in history, education, cultural studies, or a related discipline preferred.
- Familiarity with Colorado's diverse historical and cultural landscapes preferred.
- Flexibility to work weekends and special events as needed.
- May require lifting heavy objects and working on ladders.
- May require periodic travel by car, van, and truck to locations throughout the state, typically for periods of less than one week in duration.
