Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor of Radiologic Sciences for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program in Shreveport, Louisiana. Applicants must possess a master's degree and possess appropriate credential(s) for the learning concentrations/he is providing instruction and performing student evaluations. The applicant must have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and/or in educational theories and techniques. The applicant must have two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. The assistant/associate professor reports to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Coordinator, Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences Program Director, Undergraduate Director, School of Allied Health, and Dean of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health. Teaching Duties (60%):
•Demonstrates knowledge of program goals and objectives.
•Provides instruction, evaluation of students, documentation of progress, and periodic review of course content.
•Maintains class schedules and office hours.
•Provides course instruction following designated outlines.
•Utilizes a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to targeted domains of learning.
•Provides didactic and clinical instruction in areas of expertise.
•Teaches all classes in a manner that promotes academic excellence.
•Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to the domain of learning.
•Serves as a role model to students, staff, and faculty members.
•Maintains required office hours.
•Supervises and evaluates student learning experiences.
•Facilitates hands-on learning by guiding students by providing direct supervision, demonstrations, and constructive feedback.
•Assesses and evaluates student proficiency by conducting skill performance evaluations and offering individualized feedback.
•Maintains a safe learning environment by ensuring scan lab model privacy and equipment functionality.
•Integrates didactic knowledge with practical application.

•Ensures timely submission and accuracy of required clinic documentation.
•Monitors clinical attendance.

Scholarly Activities and Professional Development (15%):
•Supports research and publication activities of faculty, students, and sonographers in the community.
•Actively participates in the development of grant proposals.
•Maintains appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities.

Student Engagement: Advising and Recruiting (10%):
•Serves as an advisor and mentor for students in the School of Allied Health.
•Participates in student recruitment efforts.
•Serves as a resource person to students and faculty regarding academic advisement, course placement, and progression through the curriculum.

Service (10%):
•Attends School of Allied Health and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned.
•Serves as a consultant and resource person to faculty, healthcare institutions, community agencies, and healthcare personnel within the community.
•Serves as the liaison with the Director of Radiologic Sciences and other faculties in the School of Allied Health, and University.
•Demonstrates a commitment to the profession.

Other (5%):
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Undergraduate Director of Allied Health, Dean, or University Administration.

Salary : $70,000
