Starting rate of pay is 18.58 for a PO 1 and 19.88 for a PO 2. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay and $2 Longevity Pay for hours worked only plus an additional $2.50 Shift Differential pay.

In this position you are required to complete a 13 week Police Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy held in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. This academy requires the passing of physical fitness training (running, sit-ups, push-ups. etc) firearms training and defensive tactics training in addition to other training.

- This is a Civil Service Position.
- This position requires applicants to take a Civil Service test. If you have not taken the 2100 PSE (Protective Services Exam) test and received a passing score, please contact Civil Service to take the test before applying.

One year of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide a full range of police services by enforcing state, federal, and local laws and campus regulations through active foot patrols and mobile patrols.

Protects lives and property through active foot patrols and mobile patrols, enforcing laws, and investigating crimes.
Provides first aid and emergency services.
Investigates accidents, enforces parking and traffic regulations, and campus regulations.
Conducts crime prevention and security programs, guard service, and directs traffic.
Maintains logs of radio, telephone, and teletype activities and monitors alarm systems and other police radio frequencies.
Operates police network computers and dispatches police officers in response to calls when necessary.
