New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) provides a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public while promoting economic development and preserving New Mexico's environment.

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of closing date.

As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date.
This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
Why does the job exist?

The supervisor will assist, direct, plan and provide supervision for the Clayton Patrol. This position will operate medium to heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to maintain interstate roads, roadways and highways for the safety of the traveling public.
How does it get done?

Maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment to include loader, blade, five and ten yard dump truck, self ¿propelled broom, roller, and/or mower. This position may require Herbicide, Tanker also/or Hazmat endorsement.

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment to include loaders, five (5) and ten (10) yard dump trucks, self-propelled brooms, rollers, or mowers. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), (or equivalent licenses from another state) upon hire. This position may require Herbicide, Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsement.
Employment Requirements

This position is designated a safety sensitive position within the meaning of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and must abide by all provisions of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Testing Act. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of a post-offer physical and pre-employment drug test; employment is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a Class A Commercial Driver's License at the time of hire. Tanker and Hazmat Endorsement may be required. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are also required and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, wind, rain and snow, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, noxious plants and infected trash; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical expenditure; irregular hours day or night; to include but not limited to standing for extended time doing traffic control or walking long distances for litter control; subject to call out for weather or accidents and/or emergencies on short notice; work may also be performed in an office setting to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers; use of hands to finger, handle or feel while performing various assigned maintenance duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; climbing, reaching, kneeling, crawling to perform equipment maintenance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals, airborne particles and/or asphalt and petroleum products; exposure to temperatures up to 150 degrees around oil distributor operations; high speed/high volume traffic; load noises.
