The NCDAC / Support Services / Regional Maintenance is recruiting for two (2) energized and collaborative oriented HVAC Mechanic I, to be a part of the Eastern Region Maintenance Team and assigned to Eastern Correctional Institution and/or Greene Correctional Institution.  This position reports to the Eastern Correctional Institution and/or Greene Correctional Institution located in Maury, NC and will be tasked with completing HVAC preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account system replacements.

The successful candidates for these positions, shall have journeyman level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, and machinery; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties. Â The successful candidates for these positions are expected to train and supervisor incarcerated offenders within State prison environment.

These positions have a duty station of Maury, NC and requires the successful candidates to commute daily to Eastern Correctional Institution and/or Greene Correctional Institution or other agreed upon location to retrieve the State assigned work vehicle. Â This State-Owned work vehicle is for standard business use and overnight stays when required. Â The work schedule is Monday - Friday and may require some overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.
These are full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Â

 To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to chillers, air handlers, pumps, ventilators, fans, boilers, piping, mini splits, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with the tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used within the engineering construction trades relating to the maintenance of buildings.
- Experience with reading schematics and blueprints.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F. Â
