What We Are Looking For: We are looking for three customer service focused individuals who wants to be part of a collaborative team that performs licensing support functions for various assigned licensing areas regulated by the Department of Safety & Professional Services.

Where We Are Located: After an initial training period, this position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 3 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are still expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary

Duties

These positions will perform licensing support functions for various assigned licensing areas regulated by the Department. These positions will work directly with the public in the application and renewal process and provide regulatory information. Some of these duties include:

  • Reviewing online and paper/electronic applications received for completeness, appropriate fees, and signatures as required.
  • Matching all supporting documents to the application file. Supporting documents may include but are not limited to: fingerprint results, certification of professional education, copies of diplomas, transcripts, exam scores, verifications from other state Boards and verifications of supervised experience, etc.
  • Reviewing incoming supporting documents for completeness and update the checklist in the internal system.
  • Keeping current with state statute and administrative rules changes, board directives, and Department policies that affect the licensure process for assigned professions.
  • Issuing temporary, limited, and permanent credentials to applicants as appropriate when all requirements have been met.
  • Reviewing, sorting, printing, sending, and scanning Division mail for credential processing.
  • Assist with payment processing of credential application fees.
  • Provide customer support at the walk-in counter and via phones.
  • Other in office duties as assigned.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (02-11) with an hourly rate of $22.31. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

This classification is temporarily approved for a $3.00 per hour add on through the 2025-27 Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Wisconsin Residency Is Required For Project/project Positions.

These project/project positions have been authorized through June 26th, 2027 or until the funding is no longer available, whichever comes first.

Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.

This state agency does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with all of the following:

  • Experience assisting internal and external customers with questions by utilizing a variety of communication methods (e.g., phone, email, fax, in person, etc.).
  • Experience using computer programs such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, SharePoint, or comparable. Experience may include activities such as accessing emails in a shared mailbox, using AdobePro to edit PDFs, or performing multiple level filter and/or sorting within a spreadsheet.
  • Experience performing work independently with little to no supervision such as, setting and adjust priorities, managing workload to meet deadlines, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.

In Addition To Having Both Of The Above, Well Qualified Candidates Will Have Experience With One Or More Of The Following

  • Experience with administrative licensure or permit review activities.
  • Experience interpreting statues and administrative codes.
  • Experience identifying and/or recommending the need for new or revised processes or procedures to ensure efficiency.
  • Experience with application processing (eg., reviewing, approving, denying, etc.).
