Responsibilities
Under the guided direction of the department or work cell supervisor or manager, employee will work as a team member within an assigned work group to produce or process microwave products in an environment of continual process improvement. Sets up and operates equipment or developmental microwave tubes.
- Typical duties and requirements are not meant to be all encompassing but a general framework of requirements/responsibilities for the manufacture of traveling wave tubes and associated subassemblies.
- Responsible for performing work from specifications, drawings, blueprints, test procedures, data sheets, oral and written instructions.
- Responsible for working in a team environment to continuously improve work tasks and process. Records production and performance data, applies multiple improvement concepts and methodologies as a means of cost reduction and process improvement.
- Responsible for providing detailed input and analysis and/or support for cmi tools such as process mapping, flow charting, cycle-time management, and statistical process control charts. Endorses compliance activities such as security, housekeeping, environmental, fire and emergency, hazardous waste, calibration, shelf-life certification, workplace, and product safety.
- Must work scheduled shifts as requested or permitted by Collective Bargaining Agreement; regular attendance and punctuality are required.
- Must be proficient in building part numbers/processes of medium complexity as determined by the department leadership. Must be proficient at continuously and without errors meeting or exceeding standard build times, minimum quality requirements as defined by Operations/Quality management teams.
- Must be able to train other operators on a min of different part numbers/processes within defined timeline as set by supervisor or manager. Trainee must be fully proficient (meet or exceed the standard HPU or better). Ability to assist in other training as needed.
- Must be certified as required within 90 days of acceptance of this position or ability to perform processes categorized as medium complexity as determined by supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- 3 years’ experience working in a Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) Manufacturing or other applicable manufacturing environment
- Experience using basic hand tools and welding.
- 20/20 eyesight (corrected) and good hand-eye coordination are necessary, along with the ability to work with small parts and hand tools under a microscope for extended periods of time.
- Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.
