Position Summary:
The
Inmate Supervisor (Maintenance Technician) responsible for leading
crews in executing projects according to plans, standard procedures,
and maintenance schedules. The focus is on ensuring the safety and
efficiency of the County's properties, including rights of way,
facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. The role involves
overseeing semi-skilled construction, maintenance, modification, and
repair tasks, as well as providing daily supervision to work crews.
Specifically, the position involves supervising and coordinating
inmate work crews for repairing and maintaining roadways, parks, and
open spaces across various departments. Applicants must possess the
necessary training, skills, and ability to supervise work release inmates.
Responsibilities:

Monitoring
crews to ensure standard operating procedures are being
adhered to and participating in the work supervised.

Operate
various ground keeping, construction and maintenance equipment
as required in performance of job function.

Assists
in repairs and maintenance of the County’s streets,
rights-of-way, storm sewer system, sidewalks, and equipment.

Modifying
work methods, crew sizes and related factors to ensure that
work is completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Enforces
safety regulations, coordinates equipment maintenance and
repair activities.

Assists
in maintenance, repair and construction activities as required.
-
Operate
various heavy equipment associated with State Highway
department operations.

Performs
other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Successful
candidates shall have at least three years of experience as a
State certified Correctional Officer.

Must have an active certification as a Correctional Officer in Florida in good standing.

Possess
a valid Class B Driver’s License with air brake endorsement preferred.

Have
a minimum of one (1) years’ experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred
-
Ability
to obtain an Advanced Level Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.

Knowledge
of accepted methods and practices of maintenance,
construction and repair pertaining to the area of assignment
-
Knowledge
of general care and use of pertinent tools and equipment
-
Ability
to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities.
-
Ability
to use hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
-
Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with contractors; and communicate in an effective and
professional manner, both orally and in writing, with co-workers,
managers, subordinates and the public sufficient to exchange or
convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Must
satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug test and physical examination.
-
Must
satisfactorily pass a background investigation and
fingerprinting, which includes no felony convictions; no
misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement; no
misdemeanor conviction of domestic violence.

Must
demonstrate good moral character as determined by a thorough
background investigation.

Ability
to communicate via cellular phone while supervising work
release inmates.

Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm.
