Estimating Intern
Company Overview: Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Estimating Intern with successful and progressive experience in Estimating Department Team to support the pre-construction phase, perform bid, proposal and budget preparation, assist with value engineering for ongoing projects and support subcontractor/vendor relations.
Position Summary: The successful candidate shall be a Civil Engineering major
Responsibilities:
- Work as an integral part of our Estimating team to perform plan and specification analysis, takeoff and pricing of road, bridge, marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $5 million to $400 million
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to define scope, and perform subcontractor and vendor analysis
- Assist with all Estimating functions for Lump Sum, Design/Build and Unit Price projects
- Assist with the budgeting, purchasing and cost functions
Qualifications:
- Prior co-op experience in construction preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Experience with Heavy bid estimating software preferred
- Experience with computerized takeoff and/or design programs
Necessary Attributes:
- Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, challenging environment
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to function well as an integral part of our estimating team
- Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills
- Above average organizational skills
