What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Supervisor position at SUPERIOR ESSEX?
Essential Functions/Duties: Supervises the employees on assigned shift, including job assignments, maintenance, training, safety and quality activities.
Actively participates in safety, productivity and quality initiatives.
Provides leadership on assigned shift, trouble shooting processes and championing efforts toward overall plant objectives.
Conducts
internal investigations and grievance meetings as required and provide
information and documentation as required to plant management.
Responsible for all compliance activity (Safety Champion) in assigned functional safety area(s).
Ensures compliance on assigned shift with all Company policies and procedures
Ensures shift activities comply with all established SOP's.
Ensures compliance with ISO standards in assigned areas.
Participates in and conforms to the requirements of the Safety Management System (SMS).
Responsible for direct supervision of the Lab Personnel and direct supervision of maintenance personnel on the off shifts.
Complies with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Complies with all safety rules and uses all appropriate safety equipment.
Responsible for security watch on non-production weekends and holidays.
Trains new and transferred personnel in assigned duties.
Trains and instructs departmental personnel in the new procedures, safe methods, and other areas of job performance and quality.
Collects
data and prepares reports as assigned to provide management with
information concerning the productive efforts of assigned areas of
responsibility.
Participates in problem solving efforts directed at safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
Fosters employee involvement to improve communications and to facilitate methods and procedural improvements.
Maintains discipline through administration of plant rules and company policies.
REQUIRED knowledge/skills/abilities and other minimum qualifications:
Knowledge of manufacturing processes with hands-on experience in the operation of process equipment.
Three or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
High school graduate.
Demonstrated ability to lead people.
Ability to work continuous shift schedule and required overtime.
Strong communications and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate the work force.
Some lifting required.
Ability to stand and walk the majority of the shift.
Operate mechanical equipment as required.
Ability to conduct safety and training meetings.
