Description:
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience. Must have strong Oracle Database administration support skills in UNIX (AIX / Solaris), Linux (Red Hat), strong communication, and documentation skills. Be able to implement and support specialized business and technical information technology solutions. On-Call and weekend support expected.
Technical Skills and product knowledge requirements:
• Actual development skills are needed. Candidates must be able to articulate examples of code/scripts they developed. It is not sufficient to describe modifying code/scripts developed by others. Experience creating scripts/API with XML, Java, Python or YAML is a plus.
• Strong Oracle Database administration experience, preferably with 19c and above.
• Data Warehouse, OLAP, DSS, and OLTP experience.
• Strong performance and tuning skill set.
• Experience with Oracle installation, backup & recovery, monitoring, patching, and upgrades.
• Experience with RMAN, Data Pump, and other forms of backups and recovery.
• Strong multi-tenant and multi-node Real Application Cluster database experience.
• Strong in-place and fleet maintenance patching experience.
• Strong Cloud Control / Oracle Enterprise Manager experience.
• Experience with Data Guard configuration and failover/switchover and recovery scenarios.
• Experience with implementation of Data At Rest (DAR) encryption, including creating/configuring wallets.
• Experience with implementation of Data In Transit (DIT) encryption.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX shell scripting.
• Basic understanding of networking.
• Strong Proficiency in PL/SQL.
Quals/Responsibilities:
• Qualified applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area or a minimum of 10 - 15 years’ experience working with Oracle database systems on UNIX (AIX/Solaris) and Linux (Red Hat).
• Perform change management (CM) role on the components and implement change requests based on CM processes.
• Perform break/fix activities following incident management process.
• Maintain, Install, Upgrade Oracle Database throughout the lifecycle of the product.
• Ability to manage own projects including communications to customers as well as work as part of a larger operational team.
• Strong diplomacy, assertiveness, influencing skills with commitment and ability to work in a dynamic cross-organizational team environment.
• Good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Must be willing to work off hours, weekends, and on-call support.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner is a plus.
• ITIL / Agile awareness is a plus.
• Provide database application performance tuning and operational database support.
• Well-spoken and comfortable communicating with customer facing activities.
• Responsible for database backups, recoveries, patches, upgrades, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.
• Participation in client meetings will be required.
• Contractor must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and nights.
• Strong verbal and written communication skill.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, with other internal teams, and directly with the clients.
• Responsible for sharing 24 x 7 on call rotation duties with other team members.
