What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cobol Programmer position at Talent Groups?

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Programmer to support and maintain applications on IBM iSeries (AS400) and mainframe systems. This role involves COBOL development, working with application interfaces, and supporting legacy systems and databases.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update COBOL-based applications
  • Support AS400 and IBM mainframe environments (System/36, VSE, MVS, VM)
  • Develop and support data interfaces (ODBC, SFTP, FTP, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Work with DB2 databases and write SQL queries
  • Assist with legacy system modernization and documentation


Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in COBOL and CICS
  • Knowledge of SQL and DB2
  • Experience with AS400 and mainframe systems
  • Familiarity with file transfers and interface tools
  • Good troubleshooting and documentation skills
