Job Description:
- Directly supervises 10 to 15 employees in the various departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Effectively utilizes manpower, machinery, and materials to meet daily production schedules and customer due dates with parts and services that meet customer expectations.
- Trains direct labor workforce with respect to how to read shop tickets, how to produce parts accurately and correctly per quality criteria/expectations and how to operate equipment safely and efficiently. Cross trains as necessary to maintain maximum flexibility within assigned work areas. Reports successful cross training exercises to plant manager in an effort to update matrix.
- Supports the CI/Lean philosophies in both word and action by working with the General Manager, Plant Manager, CI/Lean Manager to identify areas of opportunity for kaizen events and other lean initiatives. Once completed shares responsibility for the sustainability of the implemented changes and the attainment of expected improvements.
- Provides input to the plant manager relative to performance appraisals for direct reports. Input is delivered on time (within 30 days of employee's anniversary date) and provides honest assessment of employees strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth.
- Conducts the business of the plant in a professional manner, displaying energy and a passion for excellence.
- Actively participates in monthly inventory process.
- May open and lockdown facility on assigned days.
- Processes and approves employee time cards for payroll.
- Participates in the launch process for new products in order to understand the part(s), where it is to be manufactured, the sequence of operations and the production rate at each operation.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree OR 6 months of experience in a similar role
- Basic math skills
- Able to understand CAD drawings and other documents
- Ability to work with ERP/MRP Software and Excel spreadsheets
- Able to effectively lead a team in manufacturing environment
