Position Summary
This position is responsible for screening all new clients, those due for re-screen, and those with special insurance or coverage problems to place the patient in the correct pay category as well as arranging for collections of payments due. Personnel in this position will correlate tracking efforts with the medical social worker and registration / checkout clerk to identify those patients who are non-compliant with our financial policies while promoting appropriate recall and scheduling of patients for the medical provider and social worker. Additionally, other duties as assigned when necessary.
Essential Duties & Functions
Must be proficient in typing and have excellent grammar and spelling skills. Must be computer literate with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Professional Suite. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties & Functions
- Screens all patients for insurance coverage and verified income.
- Fills out financial re-screen information in computer with current demographics and pay category for all patients re-screened.
- Document patient compliance instructions in the computer.
- Sends all financial data to the registration clerk.
- Calls for authorization for all insurance requiring prior “auth” or those assigned to other providers.
- Reviews all incoming patient without insurance to determine pay plans and expiration dates.
- Gives out appropriate financial letters for directions.
- Has sliding fee patients sign an acknowledgement of pay category form.
- Calls for one-time emergency visit through HCHCP/HMOs for all clients who need immediate medical attention but without financial coverage.
- Refers patients for medical triage when necessary.
- Provides privacy for patients during screening.
- Keeps all information confidential.
- Assists other staff members with screening information when needed in planning health care.
- During slow times, assist Front Office.
- Attends all appropriate meetings as scheduled.
- Re-call patients from the list provided by pay plans for health screens.
- Support the Mission, Vision and Values of TFHC
