Job TitlePostdoctoral Research Associate Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Stephenville Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationStephenville, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for coordinating and conducting research activities to include biochar technology for wastewater treatment/reuse, runoff water treatment, anaerobic digestion, greenhouse gas control, novel water treatment to remove various emerging contaminants and pathogens, novel microbial and algal biofuels and bioproducts. Job Responsibilities: Duties are specifically related to research activities, require an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Biochar technology for wastewater treatment/reuse, runoff water treatment, anaerobic digestion, greenhouse gas control, and other applications. Novel water treatment to remove various emerging contaminants and pathogens. Novel microbial and algal biofuels and bioproducts. Supervise technicians and undergraduates. Coordinate research activities with a large team of collaborators. Present data in scientific meetings. Prepare manuscripts for publication. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: A Ph.D. in environmental engineering/science, chemical engineering, biological engineering, agricultural engineering, biochemistry, and other relevant disciplines. Preferred Education and Experience: Production and application of biochar for environmental, energy and agricultural processes. Bioremediation and phytoremediation. Production of biofuels and bioproducts from agricultural waste, microalgae, and other biomass. Treatment of emerging contaminants (such as antibiotics, algal toxins, PFAS) in water and soil. Analytical instruments (i.e., LC/MS, HPLC, GC, ICP, IC, XRD, SEM/EDX, XPS). Analysis of nutrients, antibiotics and microbial pathogens from soil, plant and water. Molecular techniques including qPCR and 16S microbial community analysis. Statistical analysis and design of experiment. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent English writing and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment. Basic statistical skills. Experience with water treatment, biofuel and bioproduct, emerging contaminants, and advanced materials. Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Production and applications of biochar. Production of biofuels and bioproducts. Innovative water and soil treatment research. Treatment of emerging contaminants (antibiotics, algal toxins, PFAS) in water and soil. Use of analytical instruments (i.e., LC/MS, HPLC, GC, ICP, IC, XRD, SEM/EDX, XPS). Analysis of nutrients, antibiotics and microbial pathogens from soil, water and plants. Working knowledge of molecular techniques including qPCR and 16S microbial community analysis. Statistical analysis and design of experiment.
