Job Description
The Program Manager, under general direction from the Natural Resource Conservation and Policy Program, Associate Director, provides coordination, mentorship, management, and technical support for Principal Investigators, Co-Principal Investigators, and Project Leads at the Texas A&M-Natural Resources Institute. Primary focus will be in developing and implementing efficiencies in project acquisition, execution, reporting, and tracking for a team of over 50 individuals.
Responsibilities:
  • Plans, organizes, directs and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of multiple program areas.
  • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program and build efficiency.
  • Assists with the development and production of materials designed for the program
  • Develops and conduct programs including leadership training, conferences, seminars and workshops as needed
  • Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes. Prepares vouchers, purchase orders and requisition and coordinate with accounting personnel and other support staff
  • Researches, develops and writes white papers, grant applications and prepares presentations. Maintains and develops communications between partners by attending meetings and conference calls.
  • Manages project portfolios in line with business strategies and in accordance with project management standards. Periodically conducts meetings with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate project activities.
  • Develops program strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures program objectives are met.
  • Evaluates program procedures and performance reports.
  • Directs and supervises program staff as needed.
  • Analyzes program statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and adjusting programs. Maintains program activity records and provides monthly progress reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15 years of related experience.
  • Experience in planning and documentation of management practices and treatments in a variety of compliance situations with applicable university policies and laws.
  • Experience developing and achieving strategic objectives, managing budgets, and coordinating with professional staff.
  • Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders such as agency professionals with federal, state, or other public organizations with a conservation mission or focus.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and initiatives with a variety of stakeholders, sometimes with competing interests, on a multitude of subjects to ensure collaborative and mutually agreed outcomes.
  • Experience directing and managing strategic projects to implement vision to accomplish goals.
  • Experience providing excellent client or stakeholder service including coordination, consultation, extension, training, and workshops to project proponents and leads.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and utilize sound judgment.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to create a positive work environment that fosters creativity and productivity.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
  • Certification in professional organizations that have continuing education standard for continued development and currency in practice.
  • Specialized training or certification in programs related to grants, procurement, business administration, or closely related field.
