The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the School of Education and Human Development (effective August 15, 2024, the School of Education and Human Development will change its name to the College of Education and Human Development) at Texas A&M University is seeking one tenure track position in mathematics education at the rank of Full Professor (tenure review upon hire) with the intent to hold the Curtis D. Robert Endowed Mathematics Education Chair.
This position is a nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. Salary is very competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
Position responsibilities include a) maintaining a vibrant funding and research agenda that has achieved or will achieve national/international significance, b) teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and c) enhancing and elevating mathematics education research and practice applied to the preparation of the next generation of mathematics teachers, researchers and academic leaders.
Maintain a high quality and focused research and funding agenda that has achieved national/international significance, model research-based pedagogical practices in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, effectively mentor graduate/undergraduate students, work collaboratively with faculty within our department and across campus, and contribute to activities and initiatives in the Department, School, and University. Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate with specialization in mathematics education
- Publications in high-quality outlets
- Research agenda that is well-defined and focused
- External funding history or potential
- Eminence in, or strong trajectory for, Mathematics Education
- Evidence of leadership in Mathematics Education
- Completion of teacher certification through an accredited program
- Commitment to research-based pedagogical practices
- Minimum of two years full-time school teaching experience
- Experience teaching undergraduate mathematics teaching methods courses
- Understanding of current issues and trends impacting mathematics education
- Unique talents and contributions to the STEM-Mathematics Program area, department, and school
