The Department of Psychology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a 10-month, non-tenure-track Clinical Specialist position in Psychology, to join our community starting in August 2026. The position is offered for an initial two-year appointment, with potential for renewal for a second two-year appointment and subsequent three-year appointments based on performance.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will teach existing courses in the Department of Psychology’s curriculum and potentially develop courses based on their area(s) of expertise. We seek a colleague with the expertise to teach our courses in our Research Methods and Foundation courses, particularly Methods & Tools of Psychology, (PSY121), Design & Statistical Analysis (PSY203), and upper-level Psychology seminars on specialized topics. The standard teaching load is 4/4, with the potential to reduce to a 3/4 with advising of Psychology majors.

Candidates should be committed to inclusive excellence in higher education , demonstrated through, for example, culturally responsive course design and pedagogy, equity-minded student engagement and mentorship, and cultivating intercultural competencies needed for meaningful citizenship. The successful candidate will be expected to join a community committed to exploration and growth in pedagogical practices. The successful candidate may also serve as an academic advisor. TCNJ supports its community of teacher-scholars and practitioners through a range of internal grant programs, professional travel, engaging professional development programs, and other mechanisms. These intentional efforts support the recruitment, retention, and success of our faculty, particularly those from groups traditionally underrepresented in academe.

Qualifications:

Applicants should:

  • Have a minimum of a completed Master’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely-related field.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience teaching undergraduate Psychology courses as the instructor of record.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and ability to foster inclusive learning environments and mutual respect for students and colleagues.
