Our CPG client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team in downtown Chicago! Senior Accountant Responsibilities :
Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements
Manage cost accounting processes specific to manufacturing operations
Oversee inventory accounting and costing methodologies
Support annual audit process.
Implement and maintain accounting controls
Mentor and manage 1-2 junior staff accountants
Provide training and guidance on accounting principles and procedures
Review work of junior team members for accuracy and completeness
Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains
Senior Accountant Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
4 years of accounting experience
CPA certification strongly preferred
Proven experience managing and mentoring junior staff
Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred
Inventory management and valuation experience a plus
SOX compliance and internal controls experience preferred
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
