Stockroom Coordinator
The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a qualified Stockroom Coordinator. The incumbent will be responsible for: Assisting with stockroom operations and administrative tasks. Assisting with chemical and equipment procurement and inventory. Assisting with handling, preparation, testing, and distribution of laboratory chemicals and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and relevant Department of Chemistry and EH&S policies. Escalating problems to supervisor and contacts outside of the department as so directed. Demonstrating excellent judgment and discretion, acting independently, completing tasks by firm class schedule deadlines, and prioritizing and occasionally delegating multiple tasks. Maintaining a professional demeanor and always demonstrating excellent chemical and lab safety.
Performs general laboratory tasks, maintains inventory and equipment and orders supplies and parts, performs quality control testing, and assists other staff.
Experience with chemical safety and knowledge of chemicals essential. Must be able to work with laboratory equipment and computers.
Additional functional requirements: Must have dexterity, ability to stand for extensive periods of time, ability to reach, stretch, squat, etc. Ability to assist with cleaning areas of stockroom or labs a must.
Must be able to travel across campus. Constant mobility is required. Lifting of chemical containers and laboratory equipment is required. Approximately 50 pounds.
