Summary
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the procurement of material from suppliers and scheduling of production in a manufacturing environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Utilize MRP logic and/or forecasts in the procurement of high purity raw materials and commodity items (mainly metals), and semi-finished goods.

Manage inventory to maximize turnover while avoiding stock-outs.

Provide and review supplier forecasts on a recurring and regular basis.

Schedule production in all assigned areas with attention to performance to metrics (S-Q-D-C-P).

Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs while minimizing downtime on equipment.

Establish effective supplier relationships which mitigate risk in the supply chain.

Work closely with teams in assigned areas to improve flow.

Evaluate and develop process improvement initiatives.

Support commodity management in the completion of supplier audits and scorecards.
Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering related discipline.

3 years purchasing experience preferred.

Manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
-
Metals/materials knowledge is highly desirable.
-
APICS or NAPM certification is a plus.
-
Good computer skills required.
-
Knowledge of IFS is a plus.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation skills.

Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Experience with project Management and managing multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for extended periods.

Must be able to walk and stand for brief periods.
