Today, TFT works with thousands of teachers, students, and other members of the public to promote sustainable natural resource management through transformative educational experiences. Early Childhood and Summer Programs Coordinator Responsibilities
About TFT’s Early Childhood Education Program: TFT’s “KinderWild Camp” (KWC) is an outdoor learning program for 3-5 year olds held on Fridays. Each year, TFT hosts three 8-9 week sessions of KWC in the winter, spring, and fall. Each KWC day, children participate in a nature learning lesson/activity, make a craft, and explore outside. In the summer, TFT hosts a variety of Science Earth Exploration for Kids (SEEK) camps for youth: KinderSEEK (1/2 day program for ages 4-5), Jr. SEEK (1/2 day program for ages 6-7), and SEEK (full day program for ages 8-11). These camps focus on learning and having fun outdoors through hands-on experiences and lessons. TFT’s Early Childhood and Summer Programs Coordinator works to:
· Create engaging and age-appropriate curriculum for KinderWild Camp (KWC) and summer youth programs.
· Work with TFT communications team to produce KWC and SEEK marketing materials including print and digital advertisements.
· Provide direction and communication to other educators who may teach KWC and summer programs.
· Work with TFT education team to teach, develop, and assess all of TFT’s K-12 program curriculum
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, biology, education, or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
· Experience in the field(s) of outdoor/environmental education, general education, or natural sciences
· Experience working in or knowledge of early childhood or pre-school settings preferred.
· Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not required.
· Current valid driver’s license.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
· Ability to manage a group of students and chaperones (30 at a time).
· Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, fire building, etc.
- High sense of professionalism, strong team player, positive attitude
- Good organizational skills and self-motivated
· Willingness to interact with live program animals and taxidermy
· Ability to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overhead
· Ability to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailer
· Willingness to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and drive 70-passenger bus as needed
