Job Title: Development Chemist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: 125 Colfax Street, Springdale, PA 15144

Hours: Start between 7:00–9:00 AM; end between 3:30–5:30 PM

Experience: 0–3 years (Recent chemistry graduates encouraged)

Type: Contract, with potential for permanent hire by year-end

Company Overview:

Our client develops coatings for appliances, electronics, construction equipment, automotive parts, and more. This role is part of the Coil Coatings division based in Springdale, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh.

Position Summary:

We are hiring two contract Development Chemists to support product development, customer technical needs, and manufacturing troubleshooting. These positions report to the Technical Team Leader and work closely with other chemists and technicians. The roles are suited for recent graduates or candidates with up to 3 years of experience in chemistry or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Support:

• Assist with lab work to help troubleshoot production issues

• File and update formulas in Oracle ERP (with guidance)

Technical / Customer Support:

• Run lab tests to address customer questions

• Evaluate test pieces from application trials

• Provide applied and wet samples to internal and external customers

• Prepare samples for long-term weather testing

Product Development:

• Update formulas due to raw material changes

• Optimize formulas for cost and application adjustments

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field

• Lab experience (academic required, industrial preferred)

• Some knowledge of coatings chemistry or application is a plus

• Good teamwork and communication skills

• Ability to shift priorities as needed
