UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (LPPI) seeks a highly motivated and skilled Communications Manager to support our communication strategies and ensure the effective dissemination of our research findings, policy recommendations, and advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, project management, media relations, digital marketing, and creative content creation.
The Communications Manager is a proactive and resourceful individual who can thrive in a dynamic and diverse environment. The incumbent will be under the supervision of the Director of Communications. LPPI fosters innovative research, leverages policy-relevant expertise, drives civic engagement, and nurtures a leadership pipeline to propel viable policy reforms that expand opportunity for all Americans.
The responsibilities of the Communications Manager include but are not limited to, assisting in developing and implementing a strategic communications program designed to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Research Institute and the University, through managing targeted media relations (including pitching media and issues and management) In addition, the incumbent will prepare a variety of written communications (e.g, media releases, op-eds, vlogs/blogs, news articles, statements and announcements pertaining to the Institute's dedicated research and findings.
All of these functions will be carried out in close coordination with the Director of Communications. Duties are performed during normal office working hours with the possibility of a FlexWork Schedule. Working hours may include weekends, evenings and holidays and will require some travel.
The Communications Manager will work to advance the research, communication, and support the various communication initiatives and design needs within LPPI. Reporting to the Director of Communications and or LPPI Directors. The incumbent will be a key player in LPPI's communication activities and targeted dissemination efforts. engagement with LPPI.
The incumbent will manage and grow LPPI's sizable social media platforms, which currently include Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Working with LPPI staff, faculty, students and other stakeholders, she/he will develop engaging social media content, including live-streaming video and infographics, to serve as LPPI's social media representative. Additionally, she/he will work with external and internal partners to create collaborative social media campaigns.

Proven track record in a similar role with at least 5 years of experience in strategic communication, media relations. Candidates with experience in government, advocacy, or political campaigns are strongly encouraged to apply.
