The successful candidate will lead statistical efforts across research projects involving polygenic risk scores, next-generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptomics, and metabolomics, while overseeing the statistical design and analysis that supports the translation of genomic discoveries into clinical applications. This leadership position offers an excellent opportunity to direct statistical analyses of large-scale genomic datasets UK Biobank, All of Us Research Program, AGHI, NHGRI while mentoring junior staff and ensuring methodological rigor across all cardiovascular genomics research initiatives to improve patient care through innovative statistical approaches.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data analysis.
- Independently conduct quality control, preprocessing, and advanced analysis of high-throughput sequencing datasets (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq, GWAS, epigenetics).
- Design and implement machine learning/statistical models for integrative multi-omics analysis and biomarker discovery.
- Integrate genomic and EHR/clinical data for cohort stratification and hypothesis testing.
- Collaborate with clinicians, statisticians, and computational biologists to interpret complex biological datasets and guide study design.
- Contribute to manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations, ensuring reproducibility and scientific rigor.
- Maintain and document computational workflows and databases for team use and scalability.
- Support and mentor junior bioinformatics staff, graduate students, and postdocs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proficiency in Python, R, and Bash scripting for bioinformatics applications.
- Experience with NGS data analysis, machine learning models, and statistical genetics.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Terra, DNAnexus, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of genomic databases (dbSNP, gnomAD, GATK, PLINK, Seurat).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
Education
- Doctorate degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
- OR Master s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience
- OR Bachelor s degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
