The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an RN Skills Lab Educator to support undergraduate/prelicensure student learning experiences focused on mastery of competencies for nursing practice. This role plans and implements instruction, coaching, and validation of basic nursing pre-licensure skills and works with faculty and other lab personnel to implement planned activities designed to ensure nursing skills mastery and validation. Duties include setting up appropriate task trainers, supplies, and other equipment, skills course instruction, skills coaching, and simulation activities. This individual will also support the daily lab operations as needed. This is an onsite, non-remote position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with other lab personnel to provide learning experiences in clinical skills and simulation to meet faculty and student educational needs Works with faculty to plan skills lab courses. Works with faculty to implement instruction for skills lab courses. Directs labs setup appropriately and break down of labs occurs efficiently for lab courses. Supports implementation of simulation experiences. Participates in the management of supplies and equipment inventory. Ability to operate all mannequins, simulators, and task trainers. Coaches students to develop skill mastery, and validates student performance of skill according to set guidelines. Facilitates tours for recruiting faculty, prospective students, and high school students. Communicates equipment and supply needs to lab manager for coordination of purchase or repair. Models professional standards of behavior, including collaboration, communication, excellence, and attendance. Professional nursing attire expected. Ethical conduct is a fundamental expectation for every UAB community member. All employees must abide by the standards of behavior outlined in the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct. Upon hire, new employees are required to attest to the Code by completing the online training that is assigned to them. Behaviors inconsistent with the Code may result in appropriate consequences. Performs other related duties as directed to support the missions of the School of Nursing.
(Annual Salary: $55,180 - $89,670)
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. A minimum of one (1) year of clinical work experience as a registered nurse required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Medical-Surgical experience strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
